Our story...

Just a short stroll from Ladbroke Grove station and you’ll arrive at our Ladbroke Grove gem, our soaring Eagle. Spread over 2 floors, upstairs you’ll find the Spirit Station and Cocktail Cupboard. Our glamorous dining space and intimate cocktail lounge are both sumptuously decorated with velvet furnishings and modern art, as perfect for that cosy dinner as they are for a full knees up. Downstairs you’ll find a classic, relaxed pub complete with roaring open fire and squishy sofas. Over the central bar you’ll spy our pièce de résistance: two gleaming copper Truman’s beer tanks. The Eagle is currently the only place in London you can buy tank fresh Truman’s Raw tank beer and we think that’s pretty special!

The Truman’s story is a tale of the rise, fall and rebirth of one the greatest names in British brewing. Truman’s was founded in 1666 and by the 1800s it was one of the biggest breweries in the world. It remained resolutely independent until succumbing to the merger mania of the 1980s. In 1989 the brewery and pubs were sold and Truman’s sadly closed its doors…but brighter days were on the horizon. Truman’s was re-established in 2010 and since that time the team have been working hard to bring Truman’s back to its former glory. Crafting an eclectic range of great beer in cask, keg and bottle – all brewed from their brewery in Hackney.

So where does The Eagle come into this? Amazingly, The Eagle was one of Truman’s first pubs and will now also be their first venture into tank fresh beer with their latest venture, Truman’s Raw. Truman’s Raw is unpasteurised, unfiltered and completely untouched by light, added gas or any other process. Using today’s best brewing technology the beer is fresh and flavoursome – ‘raw’ as if poured straight from the tank in the brewery.
